First: Im a big fan of simple games, so I dont consider Teravas simplicity to be a negative. However:
Contrary to the other reviewers opinions, I found the controls to be awkward. Interaction with NPCs and signs and the like requires tapping on the object in question, while the entire left and right heights of the screen are given over to directional control. It would be more efficient to put a button on one side or the other (or both) for actions.
The fire control likewise requires tapping on the screen -- worse, tap-and-drag. Even in the training room this proves itself to be less than ideal, with the flight path often pointing in the wrong direction and/or becoming deselected for unknown reasons.
For $2.99, I expect something more professional. Perhaps this should be a guiding principle for other developers: far better to launch a more limited, less expensive game which can then be upgraded than to try to bite off everything at once.
